Child detention has been described by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg as a 'state-sponsored cruelty'. Report from Medical Justice found that many children who had been locked up suffered psychological and physical damage, with symptoms ranging from extreme anxiety to bed wetting. The government still not clear about it policy to end child detention in the UK which was hailed by the Deputy Prime Minister as a sign of their influence in the coalition government. Is the liberal democrat pledge to end child detention a whitewash?
